Somya is a dual-qualified lawyer licensed to practice in India and New York, United States. She has over 7 years of experience spreading across India, US and Dubai. Her specialization is handling construction and infrastructure disputes, involving projects relating to hydro-power projects, luxury hotels, condominiums, residential townships, major airports, public stadiums, commercial building complexes and restoration of national historical buildings. Somya has represented clients in ad-hoc arbitrations and arbitrations under the ICC, DIAC, SIAC and LCIA institutional rules governed by India, English, UAE, Omani, American and Caribbean law. Somya’s extensive background in dispute resolution and deep understanding of cultural distinctions make her an asset to her team.

She holds Bachelors of Law from Chanakya National Law University. She also holds an LL.M in International Arbitration from University of Miami School of Law.

Most of the cases handled are confidential in nature, therefore cannot take name of the clients.

  • Represented an Oman based construction company in an arbitration against an Omani Employer for the construction of a Mixed Use Residential – Hotel Package under FIDIC conditions having matter value of around USD 150 million. This is an Oman seated arbitration under Omani law governed by the ICC Rules involving issues of delay, payment, bank guarantees.
  • Represented an Abu Dhabi based construction company in a Dubai seated ICC arbitration under UAE laws against a Spanish contractor involving issues of delay and quantum analysis. The arbitration is under a Subcontract Agreement to provide electromechanical support in a project to treat and dispose hazardous industrial waste.
