Dr. Amar Patnaik, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha

Dr. Amar Patnaik is Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Odisha, representing the Biju Janata Dal. He is also the party’s national spokesperson and head of the party’s IT wing.

Before becoming an MP, Dr. Patnaik had a long and illustrious career in the Indian Civil Services and has served as a former Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer under the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) of India and as the Principal Accountant General (PAG) of Sikkim, Odisha, West Bengal, and Kerala. Dr. Patnaik has also worked with the United Nations and the World Bank for global external audit assignments and has been the Team Leader of India’s External Audit Mission to several countries.

His academic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Physics from St. Stephens college at Delhi University, an MBA in Finance and Systems from Xavier’s Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, and Master’s programme  in public management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore and the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He was also British Chevening Gurukul Scholar in 2013 to pursue studies at London School of Economics. Dr Patnaik completed his Ph.D. from XIMB, Bhubaneswar.

Dr. Patnaik has worked extensively on issues of power asymmetry in rural India, law, technology with an emphasis on privacy and data protection, corporate and government affairs, and environmental and climate concerns.
