Amit Pokhrel, Professional Civil Engineer, Manager: Commercial & Contract at Golyan Group

With 11 years of progressive experience in planning, developing and managing construction projects in Nepal, I worked in project development, national & International Contractor, and owner’s roles on the construction of hydroelectric facilities (ranging from 20 MW to 456 MW), river diversion construction and spent most of my career on heavy construction job sites and civil construction and infrastructure management. In recent assignments in Nepal, I have been serving as a Commercial & Contract Manager for multiple hydropower and renewable energy projects for Golyan Group.

• 11+years working in onshore on variety of assignments with multi disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, numerous long terms, medium term and shorter trips for project work and business development to a wide range of places in Nepal;
• Complete responsibility for the structuring, development and preparation of tender and contract documents for various types of contracts, not only for detailed engineering study but also including construction, installation, operation and maintenance of major facilities, and establishment of all contract documentation for major contracts;
• Technical and financial evaluation of tenders, contract negotiations and contract award services;
• Contract administrations during implementation, development and agreement of variations, evaluations and negotiation of claims, and provision of support for dispute resolution procedures;
• Detailed technical experience on a variety type of projects, particularly for the development of water resources, dams, hydropower schemes, infrastructures, irrigation, school building and solar;
• Complete management of individual projects with various socio-economic, political, financial, environmental and social priorities;
• Development of optimized contract structuring, resulting in separate contracts as conditions of contracts for construction for building and engineering works designed by the Employer based on the 2010 FIDIC Red Book conditions of contract, conditions of contracts for plant and design-build for electrical and mechanical plant, and for building and engineering works designed by the contractor based on the 1999 FIDIC Yellow Book condition of contract;
• Documents, review and advise on the Condition of Contract and preparing particular conditions, review of the draft engineering reports, terms sheet and other reports with respect to comprehensiveness of provision and procedures related to the project facilities development and interaction between the relevant agreements;
• Responsible for strategic, business development and all engineering management functions while managerial of energy businesses, including planning, program development, rate analysis & cost estimation, reporting & forecasting, negotiation and management of consultancy and construction services contracts for the technical success and project management of all company projects in the sector.
