Ajay Chhabra, Creative Director at Nutkhut

Ajay Chhabra is a London based actor and multidisciplinary creative director . He is the Co-founder, alongside Simmy Gupta, of the award winning arts organisation Nutkhut (mischief) based in the United Kingdom.

He is a member of the Mayor of London’s Cultural Leadership Board and engages across all 56 member states of the Commonwealth Foundation, encouraging entrepreneurialism, innovation and talent across sectors.

Ajay’s award-winning body of work: Dr Blighty, Never Set Eyes and Girmit, a Trilogy of Defining Moments, through the lens of art, heritage and technology, has impacted and influenced diaspora communities globally.

Dr Blighty took the UK by surprise – this seminal centenary piece, highlighted the forgotten story of soldiers from the Empire, who contributed to the Great War.

Never Set Eyes marked the anniversary of the largest mass migration in history; the production toured the UK in a shipping container

The Girmit Experience –  to mark the centenary of the abolition of Indentured Labour,  a 360 VR, oral history project. Girmit won a People’s Lovie Award 2021 for VR/360, Best Social Film at the Gully International Film Festival 2021 and finalists for 2021 Tech4Good Awards..

As an actor, Ajay portrays characters across theatre, television and film that are often overlooked and under-represented, from Bollywood (Bell Bottom and 83 with Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Kapoor/Deepika Padukone) to Hollywood (Tom & Jerry/Warner Bros). He has recently appeared in a 6 hour Canadian production of the Mahabharata as King Dhitirashtra.
