Nitish Kumar, AI/ML Team Lead at Indian Space research Organisation
Nitish Kumar, a leading scientist at ISRO, has made significant contributions to AI and space technology, emphasizing intelligibility, explainability, and agility. He has received the Innovative Young Scientist Award from ISRO and the Innovative Project Award from INAE. A sought-after speaker, Nitish has presented at major organizations including Nvidia, IIITDM, and IIST, where he gave a notable talk on AI. His presentation on Generative AI at the Conversational AI and Customer Experience Summit was highly acclaimed. As a researcher for the DEEP SPACE INITIATIVE, he specializes in Large Language Models, Computer Vision, AI, and Reinforcement/Imitation Learning.
He holds a patent for an Explainable AI algorithm and has led 17 AI projects at ISRO, collaborating with NASA and CALTECH. His work includes developing systems for solar cell crack detection and satellite health monitoring. Nitish has also been instrumental in creating GYAAN, ISRO’s internal AI agent, and in launching the ISRO Space Agent at BIT, Patna.
