Dr. Charu Monga, Professor at IIT Delhi,
Prof. Charu Monga founder of Media Tech Lab at IIT Delhi has more than fifteen years of experience in the field of Design with ten years of Teaching experience in varied Design Institutes at Bachelors, Masters and PhD level. Charu has experienced the Design value systems and Pedagogical frameworks of some of the best Design Institutes in India as she has worked with Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), where she had led ARLab, which worked towards embracing digital media technologies in visual communication, animation and films. She was also a visiting faculty at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Delhi University, NIFT, NID. Charu has been associated with the Ministry of Education, DST, Ministry of Defence, Indian Military Academy, AICTE, Niti Aayog, Zoo Authority of India, MCD, World Health Partners, IIT Bombay, Foundation 9 Entertainment and Digikriti Entertainment for multiple design research projects also contributed extensively in policy making decisions. Dr. Charu is presently associated with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as faculty member.
Charu received her PhD in Design from DoD, IIT Guwahati. Her research interests include visual communication, animation, filmmaking, digital media, new media, CGI, virtual reality, augmented reality and game design. Her current research focuses upon investigating a variety of New Media techniques to empower educational areas and incorporation of design and technology driven details through creativity and Innovation.
Prior to joining the Department of Design, Charu has worked as faculty member at the Department of Design in Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Charu has been recipient of the prestigious Microsoft Research grant for developing interventions in digital creative technologies. She has been a visiting faculty at the SCE Technology Institute in Israel and awarded a visiting fellow position in Israel itself. Also served as a jury member of the International Conference in Israel, Japan and Sweden. Her work has been sponsored by Red Cross Society, UNICEF, UNIFEM to name a few. She is actively involved with the issues related to design pedagogy, social innovation, cross-cultural research on communication, creativity methods and published in reputed journals and conferences.
